History of Nittany Dreamers Baton and Silk Corps
Nittany Dreamers was formed in 1992 by Penn State's then feature twirler (Blue Sapphire), John Mitchell. When he graduated, the next Blue Sapphire, Christine Wolfe Wilson took over, followed by Blue Sapphire Bobbie Jo Solomon Martino. Nittany Dreamers was then instructed for the 2004-2008 seasons by Rachael Kerstetter, a Penn State majorette, followed by Kelly Hoy, a Penn State majorette, who instructed for the 2008-2010 seasons.
Beginning in 2010 through the 2013, Nittany Dreamers instructors were Alexis Knapik-Buckley and Jess Robinson for baton (both former Penn State students and the former president and vice president, respectively, for the Penn State Twirling Club, founded by them). Alexis continues to instruct baton with Khloe Musser-Moore (beginning in 2014) and Gabrielle Swavely (beginning in 2017), who are both former twirlers of Nittany Dreamers.
Instructor for the Silks through 2012-2015 seasons was Erika Lieberknecht, a former Penn State Silk. Natalie Confer-Immel began instructing for the Silks the 2015-2017 season, a marching Eagles Lock-Haven Silk. Alexis began teaching the silks in 2017 and continues instructing them along side Alli Zajac, current Penn State Silk for the 2018-19 season.
